What does Yoga Bowl do?
We pass your request for a yoga class to one local yoga studio, with your agreement. The studio then contacts you. We do not teach or run classes.
Does it cost anything?
No. The form is free to use. Studios set their own class fees, which they will explain when they get in touch.
How quickly will I hear back?
We aim to pass your request to a local yoga studio within one business day. If nobody has been in touch, email hello@yogabowl.com.au.
Choosing a class
Which style should a beginner choose?
A beginners class or course is the easiest start, because the teacher explains each posture. Gentle and hatha classes are a common next step.
Is yoga safe for me?
We cannot give health advice. If you have a health condition, an injury or are pregnant, talk to your doctor before you start and tell the teacher before class.
Can my child join a class?
Some studios run classes for children. In Victoria, coaching or tuition specifically for children is child-related work, which needs a Working with Children Clearance (Victorian Government). Ask the studio about it.
Classes outdoors
Can teachers run yoga classes in local parks?
Usually only with a council permit, and each council sets its own rules. In Melbourne, Glen Eira names yoga among the classes its outdoor fitness permit covers and approves only certain parks, each for up to 15 people (City of Glen Eira). Our city pages note the local council's rules.
Can a class run on the beach?
It depends on the council. In Melbourne's Bayside, for example, the permit for paid fitness classes rules out the sanded areas of the foreshore (Bayside City Council), so classes meet on grassed reserves.

What should I check before buying a pass or membership?
How long it runs, whether it renews automatically and how to cancel. Consumer Affairs Victoria has worked with fitness centres to remove terms that renewed memberships with no chance to cancel or penalised people for leaving (Consumer Affairs Victoria).
What happens to my details?
We pass them to one studio, only with your agreement, and never sell them. See our privacy policy.
