Yoga in Hobart

Greater Hobart had 255,250 residents in June 2025 (ABS), and about 4.7% of Tasmanian adults did yoga in 2025, around 23,000 people (AusPlay Tasmanian data tables). The city is compact but split by the Derwent, so say whether you are on the western shore, the eastern shore or down towards Kingston.

Parks, the Gardens and the eastern shore

The City of Hobart may require approval for organised training in its parks and reserves, with applications at least 30 days ahead under its Public Spaces By-Law (ABLIS listing for Hobart). The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens need approval for commercial activity (ABLIS) and ask for no amplified music (the Gardens). Across the river, Clarence City Council runs Fitness in the Park through the summer at places such as Bellerive Beach Park, with no bookings needed (Clarence City Council).
