Privacy policy

Yoga Bowl (yogabowl.com.au) is an independent referral service for yoga classes, operated by Uplinkd Group Pty Ltd (ABN 50 660 968 123). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we pass it to and how you can access or correct it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

When you send a request we collect your name, phone number, email address, suburb or town, state, the kind of class you want and anything you tell us about your experience and the times that suit you. We also record the page you sent the request from, the city or region your suburb belongs to and the time you agreed to it being passed on. Please do not include health information: tell the teacher directly instead.

Like most websites we collect basic usage information (pages visited, browser type and an approximate location from your IP address) through analytics tools, to understand how the site is used. This is not linked to your request.

Why we collect it

We collect your details for one purpose: to pass your request to a local yoga studio so it can contact you about its classes. We do not use them for anything else.

Who we pass it to

With your agreement, which you give by ticking the box on the form, we pass your request to one local yoga studio that we believe can help. That studio will contact you directly about its classes. It handles your details under its own privacy obligations. We may be paid by that studio for the referral.

We do not sell your details to anyone else.

Yoga tips emails (optional)

The form has a separate, unticked box for yoga tips and seasonal reminders. Only if you tick it do we add your email address to our tips list, kept with our email provider. Every tips email says who sent it and has an unsubscribe link, and we act on an unsubscribe straight away. Leaving the box unticked does not affect your request.

We use service providers to run the website and send email, and they only handle your details to provide that service to us.

Business enquiries

If a studio contacts us through the site about working with us, we use the name, studio name and contact details it gives us only to reply to that enquiry. We do not add them to any mailing list.

If you do not provide your details

You do not have to send a request. Without a name, a way to contact you, a suburb and a state we cannot pass your request on.

How long we keep it

We keep requests for up to two years so we can answer questions about a referral, then delete them. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the details we hold about you, or ask us to delete them, by emailing hello@yogabowl.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not happy with how we handled your details, email us first; if we cannot resolve it you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Overseas disclosure

The website, including the requests you send through it, is hosted on servers in the United States (DigitalOcean) and delivered through Cloudflare's global network. Email is sent through Brevo, which stores data in the European Union. We use providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Changes to this policy

We will post any change to this policy on this page with its new effective date.
