Yoga Classes in Sydney

Sydney is Australia's largest city, with community yoga classes in council centres and a code for classes in its parks. Tell us your suburb and we pass it on.

What to know about Sydney

Yoga in Sydney

Greater Sydney is the country's largest city, with 5,638,830 residents in June 2025 (ABS). About 5.0% of adults in New South Wales did yoga in 2025, around 352,000 people (AusPlay NSW data tables). With studios in almost every centre from the beaches to Parramatta and beyond, the suburb you want to practise near matters more than anything else in a request.

Council classes and the parks

The City of Sydney runs yoga in its own centres: a weekly class for newcomers at King George V Recreation Centre in The Rocks (City of Sydney), an accessible class at Cliff Noble Community Centre in Alexandria where movements can be done on a chair (City of Sydney) and yoga and yin yoga at the Juanita Nielsen Community Centre (City of Sydney). Outdoors, trainers sign up to the council's fitness training code, which recommends groups of up to 18 and no sessions before 6am or after 10pm (code of conduct). Parks such as the Royal Botanic Garden, The Domain and Centennial Park are run by other agencies with their own rules.

Who we are

Yoga Bowl is an independent referral service, not a yoga studio or school. It is not connected with any Sydney yoga business that has a similar name, now or in the past, and the teacher or studio that contacts you is an independent business.

Yoga in Sydney: questions

Are there council-run yoga classes in Sydney?

The City of Sydney lists yoga at some of its recreation and community centres. We pass requests to independent studios, which can tell you how their classes compare.

Can I join a yoga class in Centennial Park?

Centennial Park is managed by its own agency, not the City of Sydney, and sets its own rules for fitness classes. Ask the studio where it teaches.
