Yoga Classes in Brisbane

Brisbane's council runs yoga in its parks and pools, and studios teach across the city. Tell us your suburb and the class you want and we pass it to a local studio.

What to know about Brisbane

Yoga in Brisbane

Greater Brisbane grew 2.1% in the year to June 2025, to 2,833,524 people (ABS), and about 5.1% of Queensland adults did yoga in 2025, around 237,000 people (AusPlay Queensland data tables). The warm climate means outdoor classes run for much of the year, but most regular classes are still in studios and halls.

Council sessions, pools and parks

Brisbane City Council runs yoga sessions in Move Well Brisbane, the program that replaced Active and Healthy, with some sessions booked through its What's On calendar (Brisbane City Council). Its GOLD program for seniors includes yoga in parks, pools and other venues (Brisbane City Council), and aqua yoga runs at some of its 22 local pools (Brisbane City Council). A teacher who charges for a class in a council park needs the council's permission for a commercial activity, applied for at least 10 working days ahead (Brisbane City Council). For a steady studio class, read about hatha and gentle yoga.

Yoga in Brisbane: questions

Are council yoga sessions the same as a studio class?

Council sessions are usually one-off or seasonal. A studio runs a regular timetable with beginners courses and levels. We pass requests to studios.
